- Finally, the “controversy” over players kneeling to protest police brutality and racial injustice during the National Anthem has caused the throwback NFL owners to impose fines on anyone who kneels on the field next season. This reaction is a calculated but cowardly appeasement to twitterland and a remarkable suppression of First Amendment rights. The NBA has a much more enlightened model with a future.
