Because It Is Difficult!

I moved to Houston, Texas in my youth. I went to an Astros game about three weeks after arriving. The Astrodome was amazing and as I was watching the game in air cooled comfort, I understood: these people think big.

Who else would build an indoor domed stadium?

Sometimes big is required.

The “Green New Deal” is an example of thinking BIG.  With any big idea there will be arm-chair pundits sending out critical tweets. That’s what they do, rather than coming up with their own ideas.

This Resolution is based on three core principles: decarbonization, jobs, justice and has five goals:

Achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all people of the United States
Create good, high-wage jobs and promote prosperity and economic security for all people of the United States
Invest in the infrastructure and industry of the United States to sustainably meet the challenges of the 21st century for all people of the United States
Secure for all people of the United States for generations to come: clean air and water; climate and community resiliency; healthy food; access to nature; and a sustainable environment
Promote justice and equity for all people of the United States.

These are challenging goals. But isn’t that why we do it? Because it is difficult!
